World in My Eyes, som inleds 2023, är en serie konstnärssamtal i Stockholm som presenteras genom ett samarbete mellan Konstfack, Moderna Museet och Kungliga Konsthögskolan, och arrangeras 2023–2024 av Stockholms Stadsmissions Mötesplats Mariatorget. Titeln är hämtad från en 1990-talshit av den brittiska syntgruppen Depeche Mode och serien syftar till att presentera konstnärliga perspektiv från ett brett spektrum av medier som förändrar förhållandet mellan materiella processer och sociopolitiska föreställningar.

Yazan Khalili (f. 1981) är en arkitekt, bildkonstnär och kulturproducent som är verksam i och utanför Palestina. För närvarande är han baserad i Amsterdam, där han är doktorand vid Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA) vid Universiteit van Amsterdam.

Khalili kommer att tala om sitt bildbaserade konstnärliga arbete, som är inriktat på den teknologiska blickens komplexa intimitet. Med hjälp av fotografi och det skrivna ordet vecklar Khalili upp historiskt konstruerade landskap. I hans verk låter bilden åskådaren förkroppsliga tidens och berättelsens framåtskridande. Khalili kommer att adressera det geografiska avståndets påverkan på perception, hur territorium framställs och bildens förmåga att förstärka eller hindra våra politiska och känslomässiga preferenser.

Khalilis verk har ställts ut i flera större utställningar, bland annat Documenta 15 (2022); Kunst-Werke Berlin (2020); MoCA Toronto (2020); New Photography, MoMA, New York (2018); Jerusalem Lives, The Palestinian Museum (2017); Post-Peace, Kunstverein Stuttgart (2017); Shanghai Biennale (2016); Sharjah Biennial (2013). Khalili har en examen i arkitektur från Birzeit University (2003), en MA från Center for Research Architecture vid Goldsmiths University of London (2010) och en MFA från Sandberg Institute vid Rietveld Academy i Amsterdam (2015). Han var en av grundarna av Zan Design Studio (2005–2010) och 2020 var han medgrundare av Radio Alhara. Mellan 2020 och 2022 delade han ordförandeskapet för fotografiprogrammet i MFA vid Bard College och under denna period var han också residenskonstnär vid Rijksakademie i Amsterdam.

Launched in 2023, World in My Eyes is a series of artist talks in Stockholm presented through a collaboration between Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, Moderna Museet, and the Royal Institute of Art, and hosted in 2023-2024 by Mötesplats Mariatorget. Its title drawn from the eponymous 1990s electronic music hit by English band Depeche Mode, the series aims to present artistic perspectives from a wide range of media that are changing the relationship between material processes and socio-political imagination.

Yazan Khalili (b. 1981) is an architect, visual artist, and cultural producer who works in and out of Palestine and is currently based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, where he is a PhD candidate at Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA) at the University of Amsterdam.Khalili will speak about his image-based artistic work, which is focused on the complex intimacy of the technological gaze. Using photography and the written word, Khalili unpacks historically constructed landscapes. In his work, the image allows the spectator to embody the progression of time and narrative. Khalili will address the effect of geographical distance on perception, the way territory is rendered, and the image’s ability to heighten or arrest our political and sentimental attachments.

Khalili’s works have been exhibited in several major exhibitions, including among others: Documenta fifteen 2022, KW, Berlin 2020, MoCA Toronto 2020, New Photography, MoMA 2018, Jerusalem Lives, Palestinian Museum, 2017, Post-Peace, Kunstverein Stuttgart 2017, Shanghai Biennial 2016, Sharjah Biennial 2013. He is the co-founder of Radio Alhara in 2020. Khalili holds a degree in architecture from Birzeit University (2003), an MA from the Centre for Research Architecture at Goldsmith's College (2010), and an MFA from the Sandberg Institute at the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam (2015). He was one of the founding members of Zan Design Studio (2005-2010) and in 2020 he co-founded Radio Alhara. He served as co-chair of the photography program at the MFA at Bard College between 2020 and 2022, during which period he was also in residence at Rijksakademie in Amsterdam.
